Green Lantern Corps Recruitment Drive
Greetings, virtual inhabitants of sector 9002. I am Oeda, a Guardian of the Universe from the planet Oa. With the entire Green Lantern Corps committed to fighting against the coming of the Blackest Night, it has fallen upon me to expand the ranks and find suitable recruits to police the sectors of space currently unpatolled. Do you have the strength of will necessary to operate the green ring of power bestowed upon every Green Lantern in the Corps?
Create your own Green Lantern candidate using the three colors presented while maintaining consistency with the overall look of the Green Lanterns. Don't forget, Green Lanterns come in all different shapes and sizes, so do not feel like you have to re-create the traditional Green Lantern costume. The universe is counting on you!
DISCLAIMER! This contest is for exploring your imagination and being creative. I am not suggesting in any way that you should play these characters in game. If you do, don't blame me if they get generic'ed.
Lantress Lover (EnnVee)
This is a very classic looking Lantern with a modern twist. I like the chest emblem. Even though it's not really a lantern, it still looks similar enough to get the point across. It's too bad the tops with skin don't allow a second color. I would've liked to see some black in the top to break up all the green. Is the belt hiding a seam? If not, you could probably do without it.
Lanternia (BuckeyeStar)
This is an interesting look, with the green taking a back seat to the black and white. It makes for a subtle difference in the standard Lantern appearance. I like it. I can't quite make out the chest emblem. Is that the hourglass? It looks awkward with that black rectangle in the middle of the diablo's triangular shape. I'd try and make it without the black (just green on white) if possible.
Glooxiib (Electric_Knight)
This character is very much in the tradition of off-beat Lanterns from alien worlds like G'nort. A couple minor tweaks and he's ready to patrol the galaxy. First, I'd ditch the belt or at least make it white. Then, I'd make the gloves solid white without the striping, and finally, I'd repeat that on the boots.
Princess Umpqa (Zandock)
A princess, eh? Sounds like potential for their to be a spoiled, stuck-up brat Lantern on the force. This look isn't bad. It's almost too simple, though. I can't help but feel like there's something lacking. I suppose I would first suggest changing the boots to whie. There's not enough of that in the design, and having it on the boots should help provide some balance. I would see how it looks with the colors of the legs and chest reversed. The green might look like crap against her skin tone. If it does, try opting for sleeves, and going with bare legs. That should also allow for a second color to be used in the top.
Green Tech (Vulcanite)
I'm not crazy about the straps. They don't exactly say "Green Lantern" to me. I'd keep it at tights or even patent leather. Otherwise, your color scheme works well. You might even be able to use flak jacket and go for a SWAT equivalent in the Corps.
Betty Wakefield (Wyld_Card)
The vandal pattern works well here. Excellent choice! I'm confused about the inclusion of the chains, though. I'd suggest dropping them altogether. Otherwise, it's a very cool Lantern design.
Jory Haldan (Angel_Red)
Angel, the idea was to create a new Lantern, not a new Parallax. ;) I'm just kidding, of course. It is a cool recreation of a dark time in Hal's career. I could also see this being an alternate earth version where Hal was born female instead. I wonder how this one would look roaming around the Rogue Isles.
Lady Lumirale (Memphis_Bill)
I like your choice of costume pieces, but the color scheme could use some work. There just isn't enough white in there, and almost too much black. I hate to sound like a broken record, but the most obvious places for white would be the gloves and/or boots, and then consider making the legs solid black. I'd definitely make the jewel on the chest green, and if the auras allow, I'd try and make it look like power was emanating from it.
Knightlight (BlackberryThorn)
This is a clever idea! I like his bat-like appearance, which really adds to the near-sightedness of the character. If his wings are a natural part of his body, I'd consider changing them to black and white (which I'm guessing is the skin tone). I'd also like to the see the chest emblem in white and green instead.
Green rubber forehead alien (Genkio)
This is an outstandingly classic looking outfit, although I'm not entriely sold on this shoulder pieces. I would have to see what other options looked like before making a final suggestion on this one. Did you try making the chest emblem solid white or putting a white circle behind it?
Leona (ArticPathos)
This is a nice design for a cute little alien cat-girl, but it doesn't strike me as Lantern material, and that's mostly because green takes a back seat to black and white. Plus, I think using the stripes on all of the costume pieces is a little overkill.
Colu (ddgryphon)
What if Brainiac 5 had become a Green Lantern? I'd imagine he'd look something like this! This is very much a classic GL uniform with an ultra-smart Coluan in charge. Nice job.
Gleexor (SN0WJ0B)
This is a good looking uniform with a good mix of black and green. It might be a little light on the white though. Perhaps a touch in the belt might help. The only other change I'd suggest would be the boots. They seem to clash with the rest of the costume.
Viridicatus (weiyau)
This is a very interesting concept. I wouldn't have considered a Green Lantern from the past, but it's certainly possible given the Guardians almost limitless power. The name is especially clever, being a combination of "viridian" and the cliche of Roman names ending in "-us". Nice job!
And the winner is...Betty Wakefield!
